Slow Night // June 2015

One of the interesting things about doing this project is going through the computer to try to figure out when a song was recorded, what I was thinking about back then, and anything else I can find to add a little context.  This process can take time, largely due to the fact that the computer I've been using to record music on forever was built by my dad 100 years ago. Sometimes, I come up empty as is the case of 'Slow Night'. I couldn't even find the original work files/folder, only this mix down from June 2015 so that is the date I'm using but it may have been recorded earlier. Who cares?

Anyways, I know the song "Slow Night" well.  It's a goofy song that doesn't really fit with anything else I've done.  I remember it was conceived and recorded in one quick sitting and was an attempt at the disco sound like Toro Y Moi that was somewhat prevalent at the time.

The picture above is of Casey when we visited the Flaming Lips art gallery "The Womb" in Oklahoma City around the same time when we were there for her brother's wedding.

Lyrics
Slow down night
You don't need to go
Morning light can wait to show
Hand in hand we'll walk into the night
Slow down night
Can't you see I'm so caught in tight with this girl you know
Why can't you go waste some time?

Slow down night
It's your cunning speed
That isn't right
Know what I mean?
I'll teach you how if you like?

Slow down night
You're unbelievable
Just this once can't you let it go?
Why can't you go waste some time?

Slow, slow, slow, slow down (you know what you gotta do yeah)
So just do it, right right right now
Slow down night............
